Bute breakfast cups

Many makers produced large sized Bute shaped breakfast cups in a range of sizes as part of a full service. Makers include: Davenport, Derby, Miles Mason, New Hall, Spode and Wedgwood.  Chamberlain at Worcester made Hamilton flute breakfast cups with ring handles. 

Chamberlain with ring handle 
Chamberlain breakfast cup with a large ring handle with pointed lower attachment. 18 flutes.  Finely potted in  bluish body with poor transparency. Foot recess  with bevelled edges. Marked with 385 in puce (ht 2.6mm). In Chamberlain records this pattern is: "Hambleton blue and gold border". (aj623, h64, w95.7, b48 (55) handle: h19.3, v19.9,  w8, 4.9, t4.1)
Davenport with simple Loop handle 
Davenport  breakfast "stonechina" cup with wavy edge, and simple "loop" handle. Decorated in "Broseley" transfer pattern with gilt lines.  Blue transfer  Davenport  mark and pattern number 142 in red (see right) on base of cup.   (m030, h80, w93, b (51) ) Miller

Chinese with loop handle with one strong dent
Large breakfast cup with a "loop" handle with a strong "dent". Heavy potting and poor translucency. ? mid-1800s Chinese. (aj567, h65.6, w103.7, b51.3 (55.9), handle: h19 (24.3).9, v35, w8.8, 6.7.
Miles Mason with "7" shape handle
Miles Mason breakfast cup with "7" shape handle with broadly pointed upper and pointed lower attachment. Finely potted in creamy body with even wall thickness and flat bottom inside. Hand coloured black transfer. (aj174 h67.8, w103.3, b51, handle: v37.2, h14, w10.3, 8)

Spode  breakfast cup with "loop" handle with rounded upper attachment. Dull green SPODE COPELAND transfer mark on base. Blue SPODE Stone China  transfer mark on saucer. Pattern 2061 painted in red on base of cup and saucer. (aj273, h68.6, w108.7, b54.9, handle: v37.5, h17.6, w9.4, 6.2)
Wedgwood with simple loop handle, pottery
Wedgwood large pottery breakfast cup with a simple "loop" handle, strap-like with a groove along each outer edge, which smooths into the surface of the cup. WEDGWOOD impressed  on the base. Hand painted over transfer outside and inside on flat bottom of cup. ?Pearlware  with minimal orange translucency. (aj349, h63.6, w98.6, b46.2 handle: h19.1 (23.0), v35.7, w10.9, 8.0)
