"Coalportish" Bute cups |
|
Coalportish is the name I have given to an unidentified maker of teawares in the early 1800s. It's wares are not often found but the distinctive bute cups shape can be associated with a style of New Oval teapot. |

| Small rather thick loop handle with a very slight kick. Attachments rounded at top and pointed at bottom. Cup with narrow base. Even wall thickness and fairly flat bottom inside makes these cups unlike Coalport even though the handle resembles the Coalport can handle. |
| A cup with a small "loop" handle with a weak kick. Rounded top and pointed lower attachment. Fine potting in whitish body with walls getting thick towards rounded base inside. Glaze-free foot rim. Unknown. (aj150, h58.5, w83.1, b36.6 (41.1), handle: v27.6, h12.4 (18), w8.7, 5.6, t5.4) |
